Template Journal Assignment

Description:

In this assignment you will create your own copy of an XHTML template file. Then you will use the template to create the first page of your Web Journal that you will update throughout the year.

Procedure:

Inside the "Web" folder of your i: drive create a "Journal-LoginName" folder, where "LoginName" is the username you use to log in to the school computers.

Open Notepad. Save the blank file in your "Journal" folder. The filename should be index.html. Also create a blank file named "template-LoginName.html" in your "Web" folder.

Open the document "XHTML Template" from the calendar.

Copy the template code into BOTH the index.html and template documents.

Save. Get in the habit of saving a lot! Close the template. You can use the template to begin other Web pages later.

Change the contents of the index page:

• Change the title (in the head section) to "Your Name's Journal" where "Your Name" becomes your actual name.
• Change the heading (in the body section) to "About Me".
• Change the paragraph text to be two or three sentences that describe you and your interest in Web design.

Note on Due Dates:

Periodically I will have you turn in your "Journal" folder and your template. You do not have to turn them in now, but when you turn them in the first time I will be looking to see if you completed these steps. Tomorrow you will create your first journal entry.
