Why XHTML?

This question is the primary prompt for you to write a journal article. There are two primary reasons we use XHTML in this class. It forces you to write good code, and it is both backward- and forward-compatible with HTML.

Your journal article should include answers to at least one of the questions below.

• How does XHTML force you to write good code?
• How is XHTML related to HTML 4.01 and/or HTML 5
• What are the differences between XHTML and HTML?
• What is "tag soup"? How do you recognize it? How does XHTML eliminate it?
• Are there any drawbacks to using XHTML? What are they?

Your journal article should also include the answer to at least one of the questions below.

• Do you think you will use XHTML in your personal projects? Why?
• When HTML 5 is ready, will you use it? What benefits will HTML 5 have over XHTML?
