First Journal Entry
Set up a journal page for an individual entry
- Open the journal's index.html and re-save it as "entry_10_08_20.html".
- Change the heading (in the body section) to "August 20: Placeholder Title".
- Change the paragraph text to "Placeholder Text".
Set up the main page to link to the entry
- Open the journal's index.html
- After the paragraph, add another heading that says "Entries".
- After the heading, create a new paragraph.
- Inside this new paragraph, create a link to the new entry page. The clickable text inside the link should say "August 20: Placeholder Title".
Write your new journal entry
You have a few options for the topic of the entry:
- What did you learn this week that was new? Describe it in detail.
- What are you most excited to learn in this class?
- See the Why XHTML? option from the calendar on August 19.
Tips: You may want to write the entry in Word in order to spell check and edit before placing it in the Web journal. Remember, your journal entries will be graded periodically according to the Standards Based Grading rubric.
Add entry to Web journal
- Place your write-up in the paragraph on entry page, replacing the phrase "Placeholder Text". Add more paragraphs if necessary.
- Create a descriptive title for this entry and use it to replace the phrase "Placeholder Title" on both of the journal pages.
